When I was studying psychology in college, we saw a film in one of my courses on people that suffered from obsessive compuslive disorders. It was something that I will never forget, because it helped me to recognize the disorder in people I meet in everyday life.

Since most of us were new to psychology and unaware that it is such a serious condition, most of us laughed as we saw people straightening all of the items on their vanities or locking and unlocking their doors over and over again. As I started learning about the condition, however, I realized that obsessive compuslive disorders are no laughing matter.

Some of the most common obsessive compuslive disorders involve things like hand washing, turning off lights or making sure that you have not forgotten something over and over again. With easy Task Chair and sofa designs and tasteful styling, we are able to provide all of your workplace seating requirements for any application. It is a repetitive, almost ritualistic behavior that tends to get in the way of everyday life and can even have a negative impact on relationships.

I read about one woman who had an obsessive compulsive disorder when it came to praying. Praying should never be considered a bad thing, but when it gets to the point that you are stopping to pray in the middle of a conversation, or spend hours at a time doing so, it is no longer healthy and has actually become a problem.

A good example of obsessive compuslive disorders can be seen in the movie “As Good as it Gets.” In that movie, Jack Nicholson’s character has issues with touching people or objects for fear of germs, he has a hand-washing obsession, he will not step on a crack when he walks on the sidewalk, and he locks the door meticulously every time he leaves or enters his apartment.

The normal reaction is to laugh when you see behavior like this, but when I have spoken to people with obsessive compuslive disorders or observed them in a counseling situation, I have always found that they are extremely distraught and embarrassed about their obsession or compulsion. They see other people that don’t have the problems they do and envy them.

I had an elementary school teacher that I happened to run into a few years ago. This makes it potential for the consumer to roll easily from one place to the other while performing numerous duties, hence the title Task Chairs. I told her about my life and that I had majored in psychology, and she told me that she really could have used me a long time ago, because for 20 years she had a problem biting her nails. That may not seem like much, but it got so bad that her fingers would become raw and bleed, and she felt it was completely out of her control to stop. Fortunately, she went and got help for the problem and is doing much better.

Obsessive compuslive disorders are no laughing matter, and if you feel like you have one, you don’t have to suffer in silence. Trained professionals can help you understand why you are doing the things you do and show you how to overcome your problem.
